He spoke about the millions of people with this addiction currently living in secrecy because “they fear disclosing more than they fear dying.” Having dealt with someone with such an addiction, that kind of fear of disclosure is not understated.

A couple of years ago, Mark began asking the question: Is there a way to provide a safe, online, anonymous place for these people to get online help? Can we use this wonderful technology of the Internet to help solve the problem?

Mark indicated that after two years of development, he is thrilled to report, the answer is “yes.” Mark is Co-founder and Director of Training and Education for Candeo–an elearning and online training company. Candeo, means illumination or light of day. I love that. Candeo is the online forum for this new recovery venue for addicts. Through Candeo, Mark helps others call “fighting fire with fire.”

What a great idea–!

Some say that an addict would never be able to get on the Internet again, Mark disagrees and thinks we can’t take that approach. It’s too much an integral part of our lives, and has to be harnessed for good.

So, with Candeo, individuals addicted, can anonymously get help, through an online coach. In combination with live therapy, twelve step groups and other support systems, Mark suggests, there is hope for those who seek it.

Not using the Internet again isn’t a solution.
