If you visit this site, you can add your name to the group of 22208 people who have already signed a petition (copy below) aimed at opposing doctors’ rights to choose ‘not’ to perform abortions according to their personal convictions. I read something the other day about taking responsibility. It’s easy to sit by and watch things change, but as Mormons, as people of all faiths, we need to do more than be silent bystanders. This just takes 30 seconds to one minute to do.

President Obama said he wants to hear from you and I. But he’s given us a deadline: We’ve got two weeks to voice your concerns - to speak out for America’s pro-life medical professionals … and their moral conscience - before it’s too late.

Right now, the Department of Health and Human Services is accepting public comment on this very critical issue - but the deadline is quickly approaching.

Defend the Conscience Clause

You have strong convictions, but President Obama says that doesn’t matter. He’s ready to rescind the Conscience Clause. The Conscience Clause was implemented by former President George W. Bush to give physicians and nurses the choice to act according to their conscience — to not participate in abortion procedures if it conflicts with their personal convictions. If President Obama makes this damaging move, if he reverses the Conscience Clause, pro-life doctors and nurses will be forced into performing abortion procedures, despite their individual beliefs. Defend the Conscience Clause and stand for the freedom to act according to your moral convictions.
