Mormons: Christ-Centered, Christian Disciples

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

A devout Christian, Gary J. Coleman, shares his views of the Savior and his priesthood authority that is traceable back to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. That authority, he testifies, which has been conferred upon Him since he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (becoming what some have nicknamed its members, Mormons) has provided him the ability to act in the Savior’s name in providing gospel ordinances to those seeking to know the Savior.

World Conference on Families

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

WCF V

Amsterdam is the home of the World Conference on Families to be held in August, 2009. Having attended the conference in Mexico City years ago, I can tell you that it is an invigorating, eye-opening, worthwhile investment to attend. An international network of pro-family organizations, scholars, leaders and interested advocates and individuals from more than 60 countries join hands in an effort to underscore the value of family, and to promote measures to strengthen the family. A declaration is written by those who convene to re-affirm the place that family values have among the world’s populace, in spite of efforts for activists to show that it is archaic or outdated.

This is a non-denominational effort to restore the family.

From my own denominational point of view as a Mormon woman, these Conferences are critical to the dissemination of information and to the cohesiveness of the coalitions to protect families. Mormons believe that gender and families are eternal in nature, and not mere constructs. The family unit is seen as one that will exist beyond this life for those who live according to the light they have and who then will one day have complied with all that is required to have eternal life. Alex Boye, Mormon Convert, To Solo with Mormon Tab Choir

Alex Boye, Mormon Convert, To Solo with Mormon Tab Choir

Julie just mentioned that Alex Boye, renowned beloved Mormon singer, will be singing 4 solos with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s broadcast of this Sunday’s “MUSIC & THE SPOKEN WORD” at 9:30 am, on KSL (channel 5). Under the direction of Mac Wilbert and President mac Christensen, Alex will sing original negro-spirituals in commemoration of Black History Month. That’s February 8, 2009.

I’ve met Alex and his wife, Julie, and can tell you that they are spiritually dedicated, wonderful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose choices to live the consecrated life have been deliberate and consistent. Alex left a productive singing career in England because he was directed to do so by the Spirit. A convert to the Church, Alex came in with both feet. He has shared His witness on his site and in numerous firesides throughout the states and Utah valleys.

Julie is a true help-meet, equal and supportive, and works with LDSNeighborhood promoting good online.

Love you both!
