The Lighted Candle Society
Thursday, July 17th, 2008Anti-pronography groups have largely made smaller inroads into the dismantling of the porn industry than one would hope because, as John Harmer (former Lieutenant Governor of California) indicates, they are less ready to make the long-term commitment to change the laws, invest the huge amounts of money it takes for relevant research to set new court precedents regarding the effects of pornography, and fight the formidable opposition, so organized in its “mutual protection and deception.”
I attended a luncheon yesterday, with about 100 other women, hosted by John Harmer’s Lighted Candle Society. John, Justin Hart in Communications, resesarcher Jim Smith, activist Mary Beard, and Jim Christensen, trustee, participated in the gathering.
I’d like to let everyone know about John Harmer’s new book titled Sex Industrial Complex, which is a riveting, clear portrayal of “affairs” in the porn industry, and its ubiquitous effects on the decline and demise of all that represents civility and virtue in life. Visit The Lighted Candle Society website for more information about their efforts to produce the literature and evidence needed to win the war against those declaring that pornography is simply a “right” of free speech rather than a violation of our right and privilege to live without graphic obscenities and profligate greedy money-making mongruls menacing and marauding our children and our families.
For those interested in working on an initiative to stop Marriott hotel chain from continuing to court its over 2-million dollar pay-per-view porn business, please contact me for additional information.
Women looking to share their story online can also do so through the Lighted Candle’s ancillary site, HerStoryLives.com.
